In a proactive move to strengthen ties with local businesses, Bokoni Platinum Mines has launched a series of site visits to Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) operating in the communities surrounding the mine. These visits, which took on 4 September 2025 were designed to foster collaboration, mutual understanding, and long-term sustainability.
The initiative aims to provide BPM with a firsthand understanding of the vision, operations, and challenges faced by the SMMEs it regularly engages with. Through this engagement, the mine seeks to align its expansion efforts with the aspirations of local entrepreneurs, ensuring that growth remains inclusive and community driven.
These engagements form part of BPM’s broader Corporate Social Investment (CSI) strategy, which focuses on empowering local businesses, creating economic opportunities, and building resilient communities. The site visits also provide a platform for open dialogue, enabling both parties to explore synergies and co-create solutions that contribute to the region’s sustainable development.
“We believe that meaningful partnerships with local SMMEs are key to sustainable development. These visits help us understand their needs and identify areas where we can support and grow together,”
As BPM continues to expand its operations, its commitment to community engagement remains a top priority, ensuring that progress is shared and impactful.
