MESSAGE FROM SGM

The restructuring process, encompassing the recent retrenchment measures, has represented a particularly demanding period for our organisation and all stakeholders involved. We acknowledge the impact this has had on our employees, contractors, and their families. However, despite this adversity, Bokoni Platinum Mines (BPM) has shown resilience, compassion, and a strong commitment to upliftment. As we reflect on the past quarter, I am proud to share the significant progress BPM has made in our mission of sustainable development, safety, and community empowerment.

Our recent initiatives highlight the power of collaboration and innovation. From our pothole patching partnership with the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure  to the construction of the Malomanye Access Bridge, we are not only improving infrastructure but also restoring dignity and safety to our communities. These projects serve as tangible evidence of our commitment to building a brighter future.

We have also made considerable strides in skills development and youth empowerment. Our completion of the mining and construction training programme, agricultural training, and cloud computing initiative are equipping local youth with essential, future-ready skills. These efforts are laying the groundwork for economic independence and resilience beyond the mining sector.

Our Women in Mining Forum’s sanitary pad donation campaign and sewing training program exemplify our dedication to gender equality and social upliftment. These initiatives empower women and girls, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive.

On the innovation front, we are entering an exciting phase with the trial of the Mobile Tunnel Borer and Reef Cutter, a milestone in our journey toward operational excellence and technological advancement.

As we navigate the retrenchment process, we remain committed to supporting those affected through portable skills training, ensuring that no one is left behind. Our goal is to create pathways to new opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.
Let us continue to work together with purpose and pride. Every contribution brings us closer to our shared vision of a thriving, inclusive, and future-ready BPM.

Together we can. Re a Lokiṧa.
